Gencho Denchev (1932)

Gencho Denchev was born on April 9, 1932 in Sofia city. In 1956 he graduated in Painting from the National Academy of Arts where he was tutored by Prof. Nenko Balkanski, Prof. Dechko Uzunov, Prof. Iliya Petrov and Prof. Iliya Beshkov. Denchev was a winner of two awards of the Union of Bulgarian Artists – for nude painting and for portrait. He worked in all genres using various means of expression depending on the nature of the image – ranging from realistically structured female figures to stylized landscapes and still lifes.

Denchev’s works vary in themes from realistic bodies to bright color blurs in his landscapes.
