UN/NOTED in Varna - a Crosspoint of Sea and Summer

The summer will meet the sea in GRAFFIT Gallery (65 Knyaz Boris I Blvd.) via the artworks from UN/NOTED exposition, featuring oil and graphic paintings from the Gold Fund of UBB’s Collection. The exhibition is on the programme of Varna Summer International Theater Festival and welcomes visitors from 3rd till 18th of June. Entrance is free. The goal of UBB’s UN/NOTED project is to present to Bulgarian painting art admirers non-exhibited paintings by distinguished artists, both classical and modern ones.

Exposition’s highlights stand several paintings, created by artists born in Varna and the region, as well as canvasses, re-creating the beauty of the sea. The famous marine artist Hristo Kavarnaliev contributes with the bilateral painting Marine Landscape/Sea, exhibiting the rough sea dynamics and its mighty natural force.

The exhibition features another Varna-born author - Yuli Minchev, a devoted graphic artist - with his linocut April 1876.

The graphic master Ivan Ninov was born in Tsonevo village near Varna. His creative attempts aim at experimenting with abstract forms and their rhythm, colour and structure. Expectation displays the artist’s brave spirit and talent.

The sea also serves as inspiration for other renowned Bulgarian painters. Sea Cliffs by Zlatyu Boyadzhiev embodies the expressiveness in colours and composition, specific for his early works.

Visitors will be able to also see Marine Landscape, painted by Ivan Tabakov – a delicate and sensitive author, who had studied painting art in Paris and who worked in the field of landscape, figure compositions and portrait.

A glimpse toward another seaside town, Balchik, located near Varna, casts Nikola Tanev’s work of the same name. His landscape impressions bring a new, fresh whiff and artistry into Bulgarian painting art.

The gallery will host children’s ateliers for creative drawing as part of the UN/NOTED exhibition. The especially designed games – Exhibition’s Detective and Where Do These Painters Come From - will provide an opportunity for children to get acquainted with the paintings and their authors in an amusing way. The atelier sessions will be entrance-free for all kids and will be held on 3rd, 4th and 10th -June.

There will be special UBB awards for the most creative, eager-to-learn and art-loving kids.

The UN/NOTED exhibition from the Gold Fund of UBB’s Collection can be seen at Graffit Gallery, 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM, daily.
